Sausage and Mushroom Skillet

This recipe is great if you are following the ketogenic diet. Here’s some info on it:

Calories: 287

Carbs: 8 grams

Fat: 19.5 grams

Protein: 19.4 grams

Fiber: 1.2 grams

Net Carbs: 6.8 grams

Sausage and Mushroom Skillet




  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil
  • A package of Italian Sausage (I used Trader Joe’s chicken sausage)
  • 4 ounces sliced mushrooms
  • 1 small yellow onion, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1/2 cup marinara sauce
  • 8 oz mozzarella ball sliced


  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Heat oil in a large cast-iron skillet (or a regular skillet, but you’ll need to put if you choose to put it in the oven, then make sure the pan is oven safe or transfer to a glass pan) over medium heat until melted.
  3. Add the sausages and cook until browned and almost cooked through.
  4. Remove the sausages, then add the mushroom and onion to the skillet and cook for 3 to 4 minutes until browned.
  5. Add the sausages back to the skillet.
  6. Stir in the oregano, thyme, salt and pepper.
  7. Pour in the sauce then stir well.
  8. Add the mozzarella
  9. Transfer the skillet to the oven and cook for 10 minutes.


  • Add other spices or another kind of meat.
