Who doesn’t love bacon…and the fat of the bacon? I made eggs and bacon for breakfast this morning and came up with the brilliant idea (inspired by my trip to the Burritt Room) to make brussels sprouts in bacon fat.
I’ll be honest, I lacked a component of the flavor because I’m pretty sure they drenched the brussels sprouts in the bacon fat and mine wasn’t quite to that level of seasoning, but I’ll keep trying! For now, here’s what I made tonight:
Ingredients
- Brussels sprouts (a bag from Trader Joe’s)
- Olive oil
- Bacon fat (I cooked two pieces of bacon for the amount of fat used)
- Seasoning (like all things, please feel free to add others to your taste)
- Salt
- Pepper
- Garlic powder
Directions
- Turn oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit
- Toss brussels sprouts with SMALL amount of olive oil, just so it can crisp up a little in the oven and add seasonings
- Put in oven for 15 minutes, then flip, then put it back in for another 15 minutes (total of 30 minutes bake time)
- Remove from oven and toss into a pan with bacon fat and fry it up until it crisps up a bit more
- Serve!
