Something you may not know about me…I have detested coffee my whole adult life. Sounds crazy…in my degree (Computer Science), kids were drinking coffee, sodas, or energy drinks, not me! I refused…well coffee because I didn’t like the flavor, soda because I’m not a huge soda drinker, and energy drinks because I’m pretty sure the stuff that is in them probably isn’t safe for your body.
As I’ve gotten older I have realized that it wasn’t coffee that I disliked so much as it is Starbucks coffee that I hate. I know…completely blasphemous, I’m a Seattle girl, yet I hate Starbucks. Yup, that’s my thing. That being said, I have since gotten over myself and enjoy coffee, just not from Starbucks.
On Monday I took a stroll down 7th and Olive and found this adorable coffee shop attached to an office building, Anchorhead Coffee Co.
The thing about coffee shops in Seattle (if they aren’t a drive thru) they are geared towards creating a relaxing environment to sit and stay and Anchorhead was no exception.
They do serve a light breakfast/lunch menu so you could eat there, but what I chose to get was their nitro cold brew with chocolate milk, and yes, it was quite delicious.
Vibe: | Large wrap around patio with plenty of tables if you are looking to sit outside. The vibe itself was very chill. |
Cleanliness: | Their station looked clean and the tables I saw were clean. They also wiped down after every drink. |
Service: | Service is hard to judge at coffee places because I feel like so much depends on how busy they are, so I hold judgment on service until I go again. |
Flavor: | The coffee mixed with the chocolate milk was divine! It had the right amount of bitter from the coffee and sweetness from the chocolate milk without being too overpowering. |
Is it worth it: | For the drink, yes! I want to try their pistachio matcha latte next time. |

I’ve never been a big fan of coffee myself, until I started working in a corporate setting. Looks like a nice coffee shop.

How fun. I was the same as you for a while. I was 26 and had no addiction and obsession over coffee. I realized soon that I was just bothered by the obsession with it. Now, I drink it when I need it. I always love checking out small coffee businesses that we find when we travel.

I like trying coffee from different countries because they usually taste pretty different!

I love a coffee shop with character. That looks adorable, and so much more worthwhile than Starbucks.

It really is! Seattle has so many Starbucks stores…so I’m grateful that there are other options.
